The Baker’s Dog is a pet bakery and retail store located in Myrtle Beach, SC. We have over 10 years commercial pet baking experience in the Myrtle Beach area. All of our treats are made from people quality ingredients with no added salt, sugar, or preservatives. We offer a variety of treats ranging from hard to soft and we even have wheat-free and corn-free nibbles for your allergic pooch.

Our retail store is located at 6703 North Kings Highway Unit A in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We open at 10am every day. Our closing hours change depending on the time of year. Contact information and directions are available on this page.

History

Almost exactly 1 year ago, a geeky boy named Paul (that’s me!) and a dog biscuit baker named Tracy met. Tracy has been running her own pet bakery for 10 years in the same small retail space in North Myrtle Beach. During that same time I moved from Myrtle Beach… to Chicago… to San Diego… to Seattle…and finally back to Myrtle Beach for good this time. Tracy and I balance each other out extremely well. She’s a cautious planner and I’m a seat of the pants type of guy. She’s avoids technology and I’m a bleeding edge early adopter. She’s really short and I’m really tall.  We’re both entrepreneurs and we both love animals.

Tracy, worn down by the ravages of working retail in a tourist town, was in a rut. Me being the obsessive problem solver and idea guy that I am, kept coming up with unsolicited ideas for her bakery. Eventually I guess I annoyed Tracy enough to where she asked me if I’d be interested in becoming her partner. I think it was just to shut me up and get me making doggy treats. But Tracy has done a great job on her own and the store was all it could be given it’s location and size. Before we both knew it, we found a great store space twice as big as the other store and we began brainstorming.

The first thing we needed was a name. Pretty much every typical pet bakery name had been taken by other bakeries across the country and we didn’t really want “cutesy”. We thought long and hard about our name. We thought how to convey that we use the same process and ingredients that any people food baker would use. So I thought about the idea of how a baker’s dog hangs out in the kitchen and gets to taste test the goodies in the kitchen. Hence, The Baker’s Dog was born!

We’re extremely excited to bring our experiences together and try new things along the way. Our goal is to build upon Tracy’s hard work and create a high value experience for dog lovers in Myrtle Beach and all over the country. Stay tuned to this blog to follow us along on our journey!
